Sounds of the Seventies Night

Published Tue 02 Feb 2021

The weather gods smiled on us and we were able to have the evening outdoors which meant that plenty of dancing could be done. People looked wonderful in their seventies clothes, with Debbie and Mark Barclay (quite independently) taking out the prizes for best male and female costumes as judged by Phil the lead singer.

John Long made a lovely barrel girl, drawing out the tickets for our raffle winners.

The six piece band played the songs from the seventies with Phil and Robyn out front singing the songs we love, with a spectacular lighting backdrop. There will be some sore feet today with all the dancing that was done. The Wicked Spuds proved a popular dinner served up by Linda and her helpers. Mine host Greame performed his duties at the bar with his usual aplomb.

As usual there is a small band of people working hard in the background to make the night happen. Many thanks to Helen, Steve, Greg, Greame, Rangi and Dennis who again stepped up with help both beforehand and on the night. It is much appreciated. Finally my thanks to our Commodore Jamie who lent his support to the evening.

Check out photos in the Gallery section.

Cheers,

Christine
