Hi Members,
Good news first. The Creek entrance dredging has been completed.
Some background......................
The club recently hosted the Mordialloc Creek Community meeting.
At the meeting Parks Victoria reported that the build up of sand at the creek entrance seemed to come out of the blue. It came to their notice from a call following it being reported at the MMYC general meeting on 3 February. Parks Vic mobilized quickly and had it sonar scanned and also issued a Notice to Mariners over the shallow depth. We appreciate the work of Parks Victoria who have responded very quickly. Parks Vic do regular sonar scans of the creek entrance, it seems that this issue appeared out of the blue.
The dredge arrived at the creek but subsequently moved to Patterson River over concerns about the weather in the ensuing few days. Mordialloc Creek presents a problem for the dredging company as they have no sheltered mooring for the dredge and equipment, and as such are very reliant on the weather.
The Creek Dredging has now been completed.
