Liberals Pledge $10M to dredge Mordialloc Creek

Published Mon 10 Oct 2022

It was a great pleasure to host the Liberal Candidate for Mordialloc Phillip Pease and Shadow Minister for Environment, James Newbury on Lambert Island this week to announce $10M to fund the dredging of Mordialloc Creek!

Cleaning away the years of environmental damage done to the creek bed from the run-off of soil and rubbish upstream will immediately breathe new life into this unique waterway.

Both Phillip and James have previously visited the Mordialloc Creek and have come to understand the complexities to not only dredge the creek but to maintain a regular dredging program.

This investment will not only ensure the ongoing health of the c
reek but also maintain a safe maritime environment for the thousands of boat users that use this historic waterway each year

Phillip and James have also announced the formation of a properly constituted Committee of Management that will ensure a  coordi
nated and informed approach to the ongoing management of this unique and important resource

Representatives of MMYC, The Mordialloc Boating and Angling Club, Mordialloc Sailing Club and the Mordialloc Creek Community were at the announcement and both Com
modore Jamie Dorrity and Mordialloc Creek Community Chair, John Wilson were on hand to hear the great news and to thank Phillip and James for their wonderful commitment.

We encourage all members and friends to sign the online petition for the dredging of
the creek:            Click here for the petition.
