Lecture

With still the best part of our racing fleet yet to return to their moorings, a special Instruction & Practice Day was run last Sunday.

Club "Sailing Sage" David Moate took charge, gathering a room full of skippers and crew at the the start of the day for an informative lecture in front of the White Board. Correct racing procedure, techniques and tips were dished out, before everyone finally headed for their boats. The day on the water was to be a number of Race starts, with no race to follow. Those in attendance without their boat, like James and Suzanne, were soon found a spot aboard one of the five participating yachts and everyone was soon out of the creek.

With nothing much else to do Nina was conscriped to be starting boat and dropped anchor not far off the pier in line with the starting buoy. In perfect conditions David conducted about 5 starts, some presenting a few complications for a couple of skippers. There was certainly some elbowing a number of times as the boats came up to the line.

Finally it was decided that the fleet would in fact run a short race and after calling them all on the radio, everyone headed down to the No2 marker. Conditions were perfect and its certain that all in attendance gained some valuable information from the day. Thanks to David for his effort.
