"Quick" Turnaround

September 20, 2010

If you've taken a look at the main slipway booking board of late you'll see that things are pretty busy, with work lined up back to back right up until Christmas. Last week it was Greg's turn to pull Quicksilver up for a rub down and anti-foul, as she hadn't been out for about two years.

Once out of the water it was soon discovered that apart from the expected work, a bit of extra effort was going to be required before anti-foul could be applied. We've been told not to mention the "O" word but needless to say Peter set about sorting the issue out with a handy chisel followed by generous amounts of apoxy.

Saturday morning saw Peter all decked out in coveralls and mask sanding the hull back to a "competition finish" while an anxious skipper waited things out by the heater. Instructions from Greg were that all the work had to be finished that day so that Quicksilver could run in the next event of the Summer Race competition the following morning.

The sanding complete, the anti-foul was sprayed on later on Saturday. And sure enough Quicksliver was out and competing the next day.
