Election Time

August 20, 2010

After the past few weeks, no doubt most people will be looking for a break from talk about Elections. However on the first Tuesday in September, MMYC members will be asked to vote on the election of their new Flag Officers and Committee members for the next twelve months. Here are the nominees for those positions, that members attending the AGM will be asked to endorse.

Having served two years as Commodore Bob Hollingsworth will step aside and Des Fullarton will take on this honored position. Des has been an MMYC member for just on twenty years and has of course held the position of Vice Commodore for the past two years. Hailing from the Power Boat side of the club, Des is keen on Log Trials and aboard Jay Jay II has done pretty well competing in inter-club competitions in recent times.

 Peter Moseby
   Paul Cahir

Clyde Whitehand will move up from Rear Commodore to the Vice Commodore position and as there was no-one from the Committee able to take on the role of Rear Commodore, Peter Moseby has put his hand up to take on this position. Peter is of course the skipper of one of the greyhounds of our fleet Da-Vinci.

The Club Secretary position will be filled by a new member to the Committee Paul Cahir. An active club  member for over five years Paul can often be seen out enjoying a leisurley sail aboard his Sunmaid 20 "Alloutte". The Assistant Secretary's position will be filled by Sharyn Murdoch. Sharyn's only been a member for a short time and is the proud new owner of a Nolex 30 "Delta Lady".

I'm sure all members will be pleased to hear that Graeme Hebard will continue in his valued role as Club Treasurer. The two Peters - Banham and Cummins will stay on as Committee members, while Michael Maragos and Ian MacWilliams will come on as newly appointed Officers .

All members are urged to take an interest in our Committee and Elections and support those of our number who have volunteered there time and energy in making our club a better one.
