Working Boat

March 17, 2010

GWH

A few of us managed to escape from work Tuesday and take advantage of the great weather. We were presented with "Greek Isle" type ocean just outside the creek mouth and a bit of hull maintenance and swimming seemed to be the best way to fill in the afternoon.

Greame spotted a large vessel heading directly at us from a Westerly direction and as it approached we could see that it was a Working Boat with a net deployed. Working between the end of the pier and a spot off Carrum, they continued to trawl up and down the beach for a couple of hours. If you look closely at the photo you'll see a sign on the side of the vessel that reads "Fisheries Research - Annual Trawl Survey". You can be sure of one thing - they'd have pulled in a few jelly-fish.

And did we feel guilty kicking back in the sun while they worked?

Not a bit!
