Winners are Grinners

January 22, 2010

As far as the race was concerned we had 9 boats start and 9 boats finished.  The weather was just about perfect to be on the water.  As usual the start times were staggered 6, 6:15 and 6:30 - the slower boats first then the faster Noelex 30s at 6:30pm.

Between 6 and 6:15 the wind was from the south but very gentle just enough to get 7 of the nine boats away.  The between 6:15 and 6:25 the wind dropped to nothing.  Boats were drifting on the tide back towards the start line and couple of them were pushed back across the line - lots of salty language was heard across the fleet.  At this stage the race look like being abandoned.

Just after 6:25 a good breeze came in from the south east and freshened and the fleet was on its way.  Then at 6:30 the 2 Noelex 30s got under way with this breeze then blizted straight through the fleet to take first and second on handicap.  The wind gods were smiling on Silver Cloud and Quiksilver.  As they say winners are grinners!
