January 16, 2010

Clearly “CRUISIN” -   Australia Day Weekend Last Year Jan 2009

Plans and destinations changed daily as the cruise date approached. The aim of the cruise was to include as many people and boats as possible so good weather with light breezes was the ideal.’

Nine boats attended the 8.30 briefing. ‘Cheryl T’ (John Long - Power Boat), ‘Halcyon’ (Lindee and Steve Quirk – Yacht), ‘Beats Workin’ (Lorraine & John Chapman – Power boat), ‘Sioban’ (John Leah – Yacht),  ‘Nina’ (Ian MacWilliams – Power / camera boat), ‘Blowout’(Carol & Ian Lightfoot with Meg - Yacht), ‘Samantha’(Karen & Graeme Hebard- Mothership), ‘Blue Dolphin’ (Dereck Haagsma – Yacht) & ‘Moondancer’ (Gerry & Peter Banham- Yacht/drinks and nibbles vessel)

- That was last year & so its on again for 2010 -

We intend to have a cruise for next weekend and then up until Australia Day
for those with the Monday available. The cruise will be conducted in two
parts: Part 1 Sat / Sun. Part 2 Mon / Tues.

Part One of the cruise will most likely be:
Saturday a departure at about 10.00am Saturday morning destination Half
Moon Bay for lunch. (BYO or Fish and chips). Depart for Sandringham to
overnight there. Again BYO food and refreshments or I am sure a meal
would be available in the new restaurant.
Sunday :  either return to Mordialloc for those working Monday, or
continue on to Williamstown to overnight on Sunday.

Part Two - For those with Monday off:
Monday : Explore the Yarra in preparation for a forthcoming Docklands
visit. (Time TBA) then depart to Brighton visitors wharf for overnight.
Tuesday : Australia Day - Enjoy the camaraderie of your friends both old
and new. There will Bay flyovers and various boating activities in the
area. Return to Mordialloc at will.

Friday Update:  With the weather set to blow overnight Friday and into Saturday, it's been decided that we'll probably need to schedule our departure for after lunch Saturday.  This could even mean leaving late afternoon or early evening. All those interested in joining the group are asked to gather at the club-rooms about noon Saturday where details will be finalized.
