Winter Competition Begins

In contrast to a week earlier, the first event of this years Winter Competition was held in stunning weather on Sunday May 3rd.
Following a detailed brief conducted by Clyde and the usual "competitive preparations" by the Nolex crews, nine boats set out on a course that took them north across the start line up to the mussel culture, then out to No1 and home.
| Some skippers had the spinnakers up and it was a bit of a spectacle out at No1 turn as a few crews brushed up on some slightly rusty skills ! Then it was back to the Island for pies and the results. The second event in the Winter Competition will be held later in May. |  |
