Sandi's Big Day

Sandi O'day 8

Saturday was Sandringham Yacht Club's Open Day and a few MMYC boats made the trip up the bay to join in the celebrations of their grand event. Paul aboard Allouette was first to head off and find himself a good spot at the marina as he'd decided to stay overnight. Then the day trip vessels, Bosslady, Finn and Nina arrived and everyone settled in for some refreshments and a chat.

Commodore Bob and Christine were spotted in the new Club Rooms enjoying a nice spread and mixing with a large gathering of guests and Commodores from other clubs. After the official opening everyone headed back to the boats and departed for the "Parade of Sail" past the offical vessel MV Mandalay.

Conditions were a little on the lumpy side and with sixty or seventy boats heading in all directions skippers had to stay alert in order to keep out of trouble. However the vessels slowly sorted themselves into their groups and headed back past the Officials - it was a spectacular sight.
